Scientists disembarked on a test research to ascertain the probability of various animals contracting and spreading the corona virus. The findings could be a game changer especially on how we interact with animals within our compounds especially dogs and cats.
With human beings so much fond of spending lonely moments with their pets whose movements in the neighborhood is almost uncontrollable, possibility of them contracting infections contractible to humans are high.
In their statement to media outlets, the New York Bronx Zoo Conservation Society said that following the tests conducted, A Four year old Malayan tiger named Nadia along with her sister Azul, two Amur tigers and three African lions all developed dry coughs and are expected to fully recover. The Institution stated that the animals may have contracted the virus from a caretaker who was asymptomatic at the time.
The wildlife Conservation Society added that the testing had been carried out in the interest of caution to gain more knowledge in ensuring increased global knowledge about the Novel Corona-virus.
The findings are evidently a blueprint confirmation that the covid-19 virus could be easily contracted from and to humans and animals. This calls for vigilance whenever interacting with animals within your surrounding. There is therefore a compelling reason to monitor the movement of pets at home and take further precautions of even sanitizing them especially when you lose track of them. This could be a milestone in fighting the invisible global pandemic that is continuously claiming thousands of lives.
DO PETS BECOME SICK WHENEVER INFECTED?
Pets show absolutely no symptoms at least as per the latest information shared by American Veterinary Medical Association where a pomerania (a different dog specie) was tested In Hong Kong but despite showing mild symptoms, the animal remained normal health-wise. This is an indication that the pets may get exposure but have strong immune system. Doctors interviewed have stated that despite the chances of transmission between humans and pets being rare, precautions are important since pets frequently rub their bodies on surfaces that may have been infected with the virus thus body contact transmission is relatively high.
